Order vs Chaos and Peace of Mind

Humans have a strong desire for order. We like things that are categorized, numbered, labeled, structured, aligned, itemized or recorded. Maybe it’s because it makes things easier to understand or maybe it makes them more predictable. Things that are predictable tend to feel less threatening. If we can predict an outcome we can predict ways to react, feel safe and move on.

Some things, however, defy predictability. Some things simply are what they are and no amount of puzzling will bring chaos to order. Therefore despite our perception, we must accept them as they are. If we can accept that some things are unpredictable we can then begin to shift our focus from reactive to proactive. Being proactive allows us to free our minds and be our better selves.
